EARLY EASTER

Easter came early this year,

First Sunday

After the first full Moon

After the vernal equinox.

Well,

At our house,

The vernal equinox,

Comes on St Patrick’s day,

Just two days after we plant the

Chile.

Middle of March,

And it’s still cold out―

Real sweater mornings, brrr.

Irises huddled against the stone wall.

No blooms till Wednesday of

Easter week.

No lilacs

Till Thursday.

And Easter says,

“Wake up, wake up

Get moving.

You’ll miss the resurrection.”
