Please call ahead of time to see if we have availability. Apart from being the final resting place of Santa Teresita, the Town of Clifton was founded back in 1873 following the discovery of rich deposits of copper in the surrounding areas. North Clifton was a neighborhood which paralleled the San Francisco River and lined Frisco Avenue with Tall trees intermixed within the Victorian-style homes. Many families who lived in North Clifton were fourth generation and enjoyed their neighborhood. In the 1983, the hundred year flood took a devastating toll on the neighborhood. Unable to put residents back in harms way of flood waters, an idea for a park was conceived through a partnership with the U.S. Corps of Engineers, State of Arizona and the Town of Clifton. Residents were relocated and work began on a project that meant to be an economic development tool for the historical mining town of Clifton.
While visiting the North Clifton RV Park, take the time to look around Clifton, visit the Chase Creek Historic District. This street has some of Arizona's best preserved buildings which feature Territorial Period architecture. Known as the birthplace of Geronimo, Clifton is also the gateway to the White Mountains via the famous Coronado Trail Scenic Byway (Hwy 191). It is one of the most scenic mountain highways in the Southwest but unfortunately because of the current Fires the road is closed. Another scenic and historic route is the Black Hills Back Country Byway a route that offers valleys, canyons and mountain ranges. The road was constructed by Territorial Prisoners in the early 1900's.
Morenci, another historical mining town, has the second largest open pit copper mine and is still operating. It is a man-made marvel that is worth seeing. Tours are available.
Rock hounding is a popular activity in Greenlee County.
Call ahead for availability: Rates are $19.00 a night/ $95.00 a week/ $285.00 a month. Tents are $10.00 a night. The North Clifton RV Park is a full hook-up park which is
